About this build

This Ford is one of 14 demo and show builds in the Galaxi Sound portfolio, and one of 4 built around Ground Zero equipment. It dates from 2016, and the 56 photos in the gallery above show the finished work in detail.

Below, each part of the work list is explained in plain terms — what it involves, and how the same idea can be scaled to a car you drive every day.

About Ground Zero

Ground Zero is a German car audio brand best known for high-output subwoofers and amplifiers, with a strong following in SPL and show-car circles. Its bold, visible hardware makes it a natural fit for demo and show cars.

What each part of the build involves

Plain-language notes on every item in the work list — what it is, why it is done, and what to know before doing the same on your car.

Custom subwoofer enclosures

A subwoofer only performs as well as the box it's in. A custom enclosure is built to the internal volume the driver needs, then shaped to the space the car actually has — trunk floor, side walls, rear deck or cabin. Fiberglass lets the box follow curves no flat MDF panel can, which is why show builds lean on it. On a daily driver the same skills can go the other way: a stealth box that hides the sub and keeps the trunk usable.

LED and neon lighting

Lighting is what makes a show car readable in a dark venue: it outlines enclosures, amplifiers and panels and ties them to the build's color scheme. Modern LED strips run relatively cool and draw little current, and should be wired on their own fused circuit and switch. On a car you drive on the street, keep effects inside the cabin and trunk — Florida restricts certain colors and flashing lights that are visible from outside the vehicle.

Custom door panels

Factory doors are designed around small speakers and thin plastic trim. A custom door panel gives larger or additional speakers a rigid, sealed mounting surface, aims them better and turns the door into a design element with its own colors, trim rings or lighting. Done right, the panel still clears the window mechanism, handle and lock, and it stays solid and rattle-free after years of opening and closing.

Subwoofers

Subwoofers reproduce the lowest notes — generally below about 80–100 Hz, where regular door speakers can't move enough air. Running several subs, as show and SPL cars often do, raises output, but each one also needs amplifier power, enclosure volume and electrical capacity to match. For most daily drivers, one or two well-chosen subs in the right enclosure give deep, clean bass without giving up the trunk.

Amplifiers and amp racks

Amplifiers turn the small signal from the head unit into the power speakers and subwoofers need. A mono amplifier usually drives the subs, while a multi-channel amp powers the door and dash speakers. In a trunk install or amp rack, placement matters: amps need airflow to stay cool, a solid mount, short and properly fused power runs, and gains set with a meter so the speakers get clean power instead of distortion.

How we build show and demo cars

Show and demo cars follow the same sequence as any serious system, just taken further. First comes planning: what the car is for, where the equipment can live, and how the audio will fit the look of the build. Then fabrication — enclosures, panels and trim made to fit that specific car. Then wiring, with correctly sized power cable, fusing and clean signal runs. Last comes tuning: gains, crossover points and time alignment set for that interior, by ear and with measurement tools.

The team behind these builds holds IASCA championship titles and an SPL world record, and the same crew handles everyday installs at our Kendall shop — from a head unit swap to a full custom build. On daily drivers we keep installs lease-safe, with factory-retention harnesses and reversible wiring, so the car can go back to stock.
